From the Hills to the Beaches

Day 01

Upon arrival proceed to Kandy en route visiting the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage. It was established in 1975 and is home to abandoned and wounded elephants. You can witness the bottle feeding of baby elephants from 0915 -1000 hours and 1315-1400 hours and the bathing of elephants at a nearby river at 1000 hours and 1400 hours.

You will check-in at the hotel in Kandy and spend the evening at leisure.

Day 02

Today you will conduct a city tour of Kandy, last kingdom of ancient Sri Lanka. Start off by visiting the Temple of the Tooth Relic followed by a visit to the Royal Botanical Gardens, leisurely walk around the Kandy Lake and witnessing a cultural dance performance at 1700 hours.

Return to the hotel and be at leisure.

Day 03

After breakfast proceed to Nuwara Eliya, one of Sri Lanka’s main tea producing towns. After a two-hour journey you will reach this town which boasts of picturesque landscape and temperate climate. On your way, you will also witness the beautiful Ramboda Falls, 11th highest waterfall in Sri Lanka.

Spend the evening taking a stroll around the Gregory Lake and Victoria Park. If you are a horticulturist, make sure to visit the Hakgala Botanical Gardens.

Overnight in Nuwara Eliya.


Day 04

You have the option of embarking on an early morning excursion to the Horton Plains with a packed breakfast. Here you will be able to enjoy local fauna and flora and stand atop a cliff of 4,000 feet deep famously known as the World’s End.  If not, you can visit the Sita Amman Kovil, the only temple in the entire world dedicated to Sita which is known to be the place where she was held captive by King Ravana.

Day 05

After breakfast proceed to the coastal town of Bentota for a two night stay by the beach. If you’re not too tired, visit the Kosgoda Sea Turtle Conservation Project where they birth sea turtles and release them back into the ocean.

Evening at leisure by the beach.

Overnight in Bentota.


Day 06

Spend the day soaking up the sun or take a boat ride in the Madu River which passes through the wet zone of Sri Lanka leading to mangroves and marshland.

Transfer to Colombo where you will spend the afternoon visiting Nelum Pokuna, Arcade - Independence Square, Pettah Floating Market, Gangaramaya Temple, Galle Face concluding with shopping at Odel and Laksala.

Overnight in Colombo.


Day 07

Leave Colombo in time for the connecting flight.
