Surfers Escape

Sri Lanka is an amazing place for surfing and has been a well visited surfing destination since the 1960~s. With ocean swells which are consistent at 4-7 feet and wind conditions are ideal, the best place to surf in Sri Lanka is situated on the east coast. The best times for surfing in Arugambay runs from July to September and surfers around the world flock here in great numbers during this period. Dedicated surfers who know these waves well, visit the island year after year to experience the best waves waves and the relatively secluded beaches.

Day 1

On arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel in Negombo for your first night~s stay. You will spend the day relaxing and acclimatising and becoming familiar with the very old yet modernised Negombo. Negombo is a quaint little beach town located quite close to the Katunaike International Airport. It has a number of very decent hotels and restaurants which suit all types of travellers, a friendly local community that personifies the infamous Sri Lankan hospitality. 

Overnight in Negombo.

Day 2

Travel to the beautiful and picturesque hill country of Ella. Enroute stop for a spot of white water rafting in Kitulgala. After lunch proceed to Ella. Overnight at the hotel in Ella. Ella is blessed with some of the most beautiful views, you could find in Sri Lanka. Itis a very small city located about 200km away from Colombo towards the east and is situated 1041 meters above the sea level and is very rich with high bio diversity.

Day 3

Morning visit to Little Adam~s peak. It~s a relatively easy climb with an amazing 360 degree view with anunrestricted view of the southern coast. Proceed to the Ella Rock which is a must visit if you are a serious outdoors person. It is a great place for a small adventure travel with great hiking and walking opportunities. The best route to the Ella rock runs along the tracks away from city for about 1.5 km until the small waterfall.

Day 4 

Visit to the colonial Dambatenne Tea Factory. This factory has earned a reputation among visitors and tourists as a place where they can learn about the infamous ceylon tea making process. 

Day 5 - Day 7

Proceed to the quaint seaside of town of Arugambay where you will spend 3 days enjoying the waves of this unbeilevable surfers beach. Arugam Bay, a moon-shaped curl of soft sand, is home to a famed point break that many regard as the best surf spot in the country. 

Day 8

Checkout and transfer to Colombo. Colombo is a bustling city and has a long history as a port on ancient east-west trade routes and was ruled successively by the Portuguese, Dutch and British. That heritage is reflected in its spicy cuisine as well as its architecture, mixing colonial buildings with high-rises and shopping malls which make it an interesting place to explore.

Day 9

Transfer to the Katunayake international airport for departure.
